It’s About Children (IAC) held a scholarship distribution event on November 18 at Jambi near the Cotacachi market. Over 75 school children and their parents attended this important semi-annual event. Most of the families live in indigenous communities in the hills surrounding the city. During the event, students review their grades with IAC volunteers before receiving their scholarship fund. Volunteers engage each youth and their parents in this review. Students explain their plan to continue to perform well in school and their parents pledge continued support and close involvement. The scholarships make an important difference in the lives of these worthy students and their families. The success of the program is gauged by the students’ scholastic achievements.
